HISTORY

"Nardos Coffee dates back to the 1960s, when Biniyam's great-grandfather
Coffee production began in Guji. Later, his grandfather built a
There was a washing station there. That was the first station in the region. Then, in 1998, Biniyam's father founded the exporting company. In three generations, the family's dedication has contributed greatly to Ethiopian coffee. In Biniyam's words:

“Small things matter, like building a washing station at an altitude of 2,000 meters or more, fermenting and drying the coffee on time, and letting the harvested coffees cool down before moving them to a warehouse to prevent them from drying out too much. Efforts like these, however small, make a big difference in the quality of the coffee.”

Shakiso is located in the Oromia region, in the eastern part of Guji district, at an altitude of 1980 meters above sea level. The Shakiso coffee washing station is in a new coffee-growing region, and the legacy coffee trees are only about 10 years old. Shakiso is a tropical rainforest region, so most of the coffee trees are shade-grown, benefiting from good rainfall for optimal production. The coffee is processed and dried using traditional methods.
